Columbia, SC — In a major move that’s shaking up women’s college basketball, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley has announced that WNBA legend Lisa Leslie will join her staff to help develop the Gamecocks’ frontcourt players. Leslie, a 3-time WNBA MVP and 4-time Olympic gold medalist, brings unparalleled experience and championship pedigree to an already elite program.
“I’m honored to join Dawn and her incredible program,” Leslie said in a statement. “South Carolina has set the standard in women’s college basketball, and I’m excited to help these young players reach their full potential both on and off the court.”
Staley, a legend in her own right, praised Leslie’s basketball IQ and leadership. “Lisa knows what it takes to dominate the paint at the highest level,” Staley said. “Her mentorship will be invaluable as we continue to compete for national titles.”
Leslie will work closely with South Carolina’s forwards and centers, focusing on footwork, rebounding, and post-scoring techniques. Her presence is expected to elevate the Gamecocks’ already formidable roster as they look to return to the Final Four in the upcoming
season.
