In a significant development in women’s college basketball, senior guard/forward Taylor Thierry has announced her decision to transfer from the Ohio State Buckeyes to the Kentucky Wildcats, choosing them over the Tennessee Volunteers and Florida State Seminoles. Thierry, standing at 6 feet 1 inch and hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, has been a pivotal player for the Buckeyes. 
Throughout her tenure at Ohio State, Thierry has garnered numerous accolades. She was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team in both 2023 and 2024, earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Defensive Team in 2023, and was recognized on the Big Ten All-Tournament Team the same year. Academically, she has been an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2023 and 2024 and an OSU Scholar-Athlete from 2022 to 2024.
This season, Thierry has been instrumental in Ohio State’s success. She was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List on February 5, 2025, and subsequently advanced to the semifinalist stage on March 11, 2025. Thierry leads the team with an average of 2.4 steals per game, ranking second in the Big Ten, and has recorded a career-high seven steals in a single game this season.
Her offensive contributions are equally noteworthy. Thierry is averaging 10.8 points per game, shooting an impressive 52.8% from behind the arc. She achieved a season-high 23 points against Nebraska on January 26, 2025, showcasing her ability to perform in clutch situations.
Thierry’s decision to join the Kentucky Wildcats is expected to bolster their lineup significantly. Her defensive prowess and consistent offensive performance make her a valuable asset as Kentucky aims to strengthen its position in the competitive landscape of women’s college basketball.
