A 72-year-old American man is presumed to have gone overboard from the Ruby Princess cruise ship during a five-day voyage to Ensenada, Mexico. The incident came to light when the ship docked in San Francisco on December 2, 2024, and the passenger was unaccounted for.
Despite thorough searches of the vessel and extensive reviews of CCTV footage, the man, who was traveling alone, could not be located. Consequently, officials are treating the situation as a man overboard incident.
The U.S. Coast Guard conducted aerial searches approximately 45 miles off the coast of Monterey, California, but suspended the search pending new information. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has taken over the investigation. Princess Cruises expressed condolences to the man’s family and friends.
