Allan Langer has made a celebrated return to the Queensland State of Origin team setup following his departure from a long-time role with the Brisbane Broncos. Known as one of Queensland’s most iconic halfbacks, Langer’s return is seen as a morale boost for the Maroons ahead of the 2025 Origin series. After stepping down from his role as a trainer with the Broncos earlier this year, many speculated about his next move, and his re-entry into the Origin camp has been widely welcomed.

Langer brings decades of playing and mentoring experience, having previously played a key role in the Maroons’ coaching and support staff under several coaches. His passion, leadership, and tactical acumen are expected to benefit the squad, particularly the younger players. Queensland coach Billy Slater praised Langer’s return, calling it “wonderful for the team culture and spirit.”

Langer’s presence adds a layer of continuity and tradition, reinforcing the proud Origin legacy. His deep understanding of the Origin arena, combined with his approachable nature, is seen as crucial in preparing the team mentally and emotionally for the high-pressure series. Fans and former players have widely celebrated the move.
