The Los Angeles Angels have locked in one of their brightest young stars, announcing a five-year contract extension with outfielder Jo Adell. The deal, reportedly worth around $45 million, secures Adell through the 2029 season and signals the team’s commitment to building a competitive core for the future.
Adell, 25, has shown flashes of his immense potential since debuting in 2020. After facing early struggles, he made major strides in recent seasons, showcasing his power, speed, and improved defensive play. In 2024, he posted a breakout year with 25 home runs, 80 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases, cementing his role as a key piece of the Angels’ lineup.
General Manager Perry Minasian called the extension “a win for the organization and our fans,” emphasizing the club’s belief in Adell’s long-term value. The move also comes as the Angels look to turn the page following the departure of Shohei Ohtani, focusing on a new generation of homegrown talent.
Adell expressed gratitude and excitement, saying, “This is where I want to be. I believe in this team, and I’m ready to help bring winning baseball back to Anaheim.” A press conference is scheduled for later today.
