The Vancouver Canucks are mourning the loss of former goaltender Frank Caprice, who has passed away at the age of 63. Known for his agility and poise in the crease, Caprice was a key figure for the Canucks during the 1980s, earning the respect of teammates and fans alike for his work ethic and quiet leadership.
Caprice joined the Canucks in the 1982–83 NHL season, making an immediate impression with his quick reflexes and calm demeanor under pressure. He went on to play parts of five seasons with Vancouver, appearing in 102 games. Though often in a backup role, Caprice delivered reliable performances when called upon and was remembered for several clutch saves during tense matchups.
Following his NHL career, he continued to play professionally in Europe and remained involved in the game through coaching and youth development. The Canucks organization released a statement honoring Caprice’s contributions, calling him “a true professional and beloved member of the Canucks family.”
