Five-star defensive end Xavier Griffin has reaffirmed his commitment to the USC Trojans, putting to rest swirling rumors of a potential flip to an SEC powerhouse. The 6’5”, 250-pound phenom out of Atlanta, Georgia, has been a top target for schools like Alabama, Georgia, and LSU, all of whom made late pushes in recent weeks. Despite the pressure, Griffin says his heart remains in Los Angeles.
“I appreciate the attention, but I’m fully committed to USC,” Griffin said in a statement Friday. “Coach Riley and Coach Odom have believed in me from the start, and I believe in their vision.”
Griffin, ranked as the No. 2 edge rusher in the 2025 class, is expected to be an instant-impact player for USC’s defense. His blend of power, speed, and football IQ has drawn comparisons to former Trojan greats. Sources close to Griffin say his decision is rooted in USC’s development plan and its position in the evolving Big Ten landscape.
USC fans can breathe easy — for now, the crown jewel of their recruiting class isn’t going anywhere. Griffin plans to enroll early in January and is already organizing group chats with other commits to help solidify the Trojans’ 2025 haul.
