PILOT POINT, TX — A Pilot Point man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter following a deadly crash on Highway 82, authorities confirmed late Friday.

 

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening near County Road 100. Investigators say the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Michael Ray Johnson, was traveling at a high speed when he lost control of his vehicle, colliding head-on with another car. The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old woman from Whitesboro, was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Authorities allege that Johnson was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Witnesses reported seeing his vehicle swerving dangerously moments before the collision. Emergency crews responded quickly, and Johnson was treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody.
