Four-star defensive lineman Jayden Loftin, a top target for the Washington Huskies, has officially decommitted from the University of Tennessee. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound standout from Texas announced his decision via social media, citing a desire to re-evaluate his options and ensure the best fit both academically and athletically. Loftin originally committed to the Volunteers in late 2024, drawn by their SEC pedigree and strong defensive development, but shifting dynamics in the coaching staff and scheme reportedly played a role in his reconsideration.
Washington has been heavily involved in Loftin’s recruitment from the beginning, and his decommitment now opens the door wider for the Huskies to make a strong push. Known for his explosive first step and versatility along the defensive front, Loftin fits perfectly in Washington’s aggressive, hybrid defensive scheme under head coach Jedd Fisch. The Huskies are expected to host him for an official visit this summer, and momentum appears to be trending in their favor.
Loftin is currently ranked among the top 25 defensive linemen in the nation and holds offers from several other top programs including Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC. With his recruitment now wide open, all eyes will be on his next move.
