A fire broke out aboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship early Wednesday morning, prompting an emergency evacuation of passengers and crew. The incident occurred while the ship was en route to the Bahamas, forcing it to halt operations and initiate emergency protocols. Carnival officials confirmed that the fire began in the engine room and was quickly contained by onboard fire suppression systems.
All 1,500 passengers and 650 crew members were safely evacuated and accounted for, with no serious injuries reported. Several passengers were treated for minor smoke inhalation, but none required hospitalization. Emergency crews responded swiftly, and rescue vessels were dispatched to assist in the evacuation.
The U.S. Coast Guard is currently working with Carnival Cruise Line to investigate the cause of the fire. Preliminary reports suggest that an electrical malfunction may have been to blame, but officials have not ruled out other possibilities. The ship is being towed back to port for further inspection and repairs.
Carnival has pledged to fully cooperate with the investigation and is offering full refunds and compensation to affected passengers. The company stated that safety remains its top priority and expressed gratitude for the crew’s quick response and the passengers’ cooperation during the emergency.
