A fire broke out aboard an Azamara cruise ship traveling near the coast of Malaysia on Thursday morning, causing panic among passengers and prompting a swift emergency response. According to initial reports, the blaze originated in a passenger cabin on Deck 6 and quickly spread, engulfing the room in flames.

Crew members activated emergency protocols immediately, and the ship’s fire response team managed to contain the fire within 30 minutes. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the affected area as passengers in nearby cabins were temporarily evacuated for safety.

 

No injuries or fatalities have been reported, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Azamara issued a statement confirming the incident, stating, “All guests and crew are safe, and the situation is under control. We are cooperating fully with local authorities and maritime safety officials.”

 

The ship, which was en route to Langkawi as part of a Southeast Asia itinerary, has resumed its journey after undergoing safety inspections. Affected guests are being provided with alternative accommodations and support onboard.
