Hundreds of passengers were left adrift for hours after a Princess Cruises ship suffered a sudden engine failure in the middle of the ocean. The luxury cruise liner, which was on a scheduled voyage, reportedly lost propulsion, leaving it stranded with no clear timeline for rescue or repairs.
Passengers described growing anxiety as the ship drifted, with no communication from the crew for hours. Many feared worsening conditions, especially as the ship bobbed helplessly in open waters. While emergency protocols were activated, frustration mounted as passengers were left without a clear understanding of what would happen next.
“We had no idea how long we’d be stuck. People were panicking,” one traveler shared. Others reported issues with air conditioning and basic amenities as power systems faltered.
After hours adrift, backup systems were partially restored, allowing the ship to regain minimal functionality. Tugboats were eventually dispatched to assist, but concerns remain about the company’s response time and preparedness.
Princess Cruises has yet to release a detailed statement, but passengers are demanding answers. Many are now questioning cruise line safety protocols, fearing a repeat of past maritime disasters.
