He played 18 seasons in the NHL, primarily with the Toronto Maple Leafs, serving as their captain from 1997 to 2008. Sundin was known for his leadership and scoring prowess, holding the Maple Leafs’ franchise records for goals and points.
After retiring in 2009, Sundin was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. In October 2011, the Maple Leafs honored him by retiring his number 13 jersey.
