Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray has mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the team. Murray, 30, missed the entire 2024-2025 season following bilateral hip surgery in October 2024, which was the final year of his four-year, $25 million contract signed with Ottawa in 2020. Prior to his absence, Murray played 26 games with Toronto in the 2022-2023 season, recording a 14-8-2 record with a 3.01 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage. 
Maple Leafs Bolster Goaltending with Anthony Stolarz Signing
In response to Murray’s departure, the Maple Leafs have signed free-agent goaltender Anthony Stolarz to a two-year, $5 million contract. Stolarz, 30, played 27 games (24 starts) for the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers last season, posting a 16-7-2 record and leading the NHL with a 2.03 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage (minimum of 25 games). Stolarz brings valuable experience, having served as a backup to elite goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky during Florida’s championship run.
