Penn State’s Beaver Stadium is undergoing a comprehensive $700 million renovation to modernize the facility while preserving its historic essence. The project commenced in January 2025 with the controlled demolition of the west side’s press box, originally constructed in 1959 and expanded in 1980, marking the beginning of significant structural updates.
The renovation plan includes constructing the PAM Health Misitano Family Tower, named in recognition of a generous $25 million donation from the Misitano Family and PAM Health. This new addition will feature 7,900 temporary bleacher seats atop the suite level. Ground-level enhancements aim to improve the fan experience by increasing the number of restrooms and concession stands, expanding concourses, and introducing a Welcome Center with event space.
Approved by the Penn State Board of Trustees in May 2024, the renovations are designed to facilitate year-round use of Beaver Stadium, thereby driving economic growth in the surrounding region. The project is being executed in phases over three off-seasons to maintain near-full seating capacity during football games and other events. Completion is anticipated before the 2027 college football season.
Throughout the renovation, approximately 800 to 1,000 tradespeople will be employed each summer, with up to 450 workers on-site daily at peak times, generating an estimated $15 million in economic impact for the region.
These extensive upgrades underscore Penn State’s commitment to enhancing the fan experience, supporting its athletic programs, and contributing to the local economy.
