Penn State quarterback Drew Allar has confirmed he will return for his senior season, foregoing the 2025 NFL Draft. This decision follows the Nittany Lions’ narrow 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff (CFP) semifinal, where Allar’s late-game interception proved costly.
Despite earlier speculation that Allar might enter the draft, he had informed the coaching staff in December of his intention to stay. However, he kept an open mind based on favorable NFL feedback. His performance in the Orange Bowl, where he completed 12-of-23 passes for 135 yards with no touchdowns and an interception, likely reinforced his decision to return.
Allar’s return bolsters Penn State’s prospects for the upcoming season, especially with key offensive players like running backs Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen also opting to stay. This experienced backfield positions the Nittany Lions as strong contenders for a national championship run in 2025.
Head coach James Franklin expressed unwavering support for Allar, stating, “Drew is a passionate guy… He’ll handle this how he handles everything else — with a first-class approach.”
Allar’s commitment to Penn State reflects his dedication to personal growth and team success, aiming to lead the Nittany Lions to greater achievements in the forthcoming season.
