The Los Angeles Lakers have officially announced the re-signing of veteran center Dwight Howard, marking his third stint with the franchise. Howard previously played for the Lakers during the 2012-2013 season and later in the 2019-2020 season, during which he contributed to the team’s championship victory.
After spending the last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Howard expressed enthusiasm about returning to Los Angeles. In a recent interview, he stated, “We’re supposed to be together. It’s something about the Lakers that we’re supposed to be together.”
The Lakers have been active this offseason, assembling a roster rich in experience. Alongside Howard, they’ve acquired notable veterans such as Carmelo Anthony, Trevor Ariza, and Russell Westbrook. Howard acknowledged the unique composition of the team, noting, “It’s hard to imagine all of us on the same floor at the same time, not on an All-Star team, Olympic team or charity game, but an actual season.”
In his anticipated role, Howard is expected to provide the Lakers with interior defense, rebounding, and a strong locker room presence. His familiarity with the team’s culture and championship aspirations positions him as a valuable asset in their quest for another title.
