The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly exploring a significant trade to acquire Green Bay Packers’ star cornerback Jaire Alexander, who has a four-year, $84 million contract. This move aims to strengthen the Raiders’ secondary, addressing a critical need as they rebuild following a challenging 2024 season. 
Alexander, 28, has demonstrated elite performance when healthy. In the 2024 season, he played seven games, recording 16 tackles and two interceptions, earning a Pro Football Focus grade of 75.2, ranking 24th among 223 qualified corners. His career includes two Pro Bowl selections, 12 interceptions, and 70 pass deflections over seven seasons.
The proposed trade suggests the Raiders would send a fourth-round pick to the Packers in exchange for Alexander. This acquisition would bolster the Raiders’ defense, pairing Alexander with cornerback Jakorian Bennett and addressing the impending free agency of key secondary players like Nate Hobbs, Tre’von Moehrig, and Marcus Epps. With approximately $96 million in cap space, the Raiders are well-positioned to absorb Alexander’s contract and continue their roster overhaul.
This strategic move reflects the Raiders’ commitment to enhancing their defense and overall competitiveness in the upcoming season.
