The Penn State Nittany Lions clinched the 2025 Big Ten regular-season wrestling title with a perfect 8-0 conference record, concluding their dual meet season with an unblemished 15-0 record. Their dominance continued at the Big Ten Wrestling Championships held on March 8-9, 2025, at Northwestern University’s Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Illinois. Penn State amassed a team score of 181.5 points, surpassing Nebraska’s 137.0 and Iowa’s 112.0 to secure the championship. Five Nittany Lions captured individual titles:

 

125 lbs: Luke Lilledahl

 

157 lbs: Tyler Kasak

 

165 lbs: Mitchell Mesenbrink

 

174 lbs: Levi Haines

 

184 lbs: Carter Starocci

 

 

This achievement ties the school record for individual champions, previously set in 2011 and 2024. Notably, Carter Starocci was honored as the Big Ten Wrestler of the Year, and head coach Cael Sanderson received his ninth Big Ten Coach of the Year award. All ten Penn State wrestlers secured qualifications for the upcoming NCAA Championships, scheduled for March 20-22, 2025, at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo

Center.
