BYU guard Kerr Kriisa will not take part in the team’s Senior Night celebrations tonight, head coach Mark Pope confirmed. The reason? Kriisa still has another year of college eligibility remaining.
Kriisa, a transfer from Arizona and later West Virginia, joined BYU this season and has played a key role for the Cougars. While many expected him to be part of the Senior Night recognition, his eligibility status means he could return for another season.
This announcement adds intrigue to BYU’s roster for next year, as Kriisa’s leadership and playmaking have been valuable. The Estonian guard has averaged solid numbers, contributing as a passer and shooter while bringing experience to the backcourt.
With the Cougars preparing for postseason play, the news shifts focus to whether Kriisa will indeed return next season. If he stays, BYU could retain a key piece as they continue competing in the Big 12.
For now, Kriisa and BYU remain focused on closing the regular season strong. Fans will have to wait and see if the talented guard decides to run it back with the Cougars in 2024-25.
