Michelago, NSW – June 23, 2025
Residents and regular commuters along the Monaro Highway are raising serious safety concerns after a car was left abandoned at the Baroona Road turnoff, just south of Michelago. The vehicle, which appears to have been left for several days, is parked in an extremely hazardous location and could soon be the cause of a serious accident.
The car is situated at the point where northbound vehicles must slow down or stop to turn into Baroona Road. In this stretch, southbound traffic is known to pass at high speed, often swinging wide to overtake vehicles making the turn. The presence of the parked car significantly narrows the shoulder and disrupts visibility, turning a routine maneuver into a dangerous situation.
Local residents are urging the owner of the vehicle to return and move it immediately.
> “It’s just a matter of time before someone gets hurt,” one concerned local said. “When we stop to turn into Baroona Road, we’re essentially sitting ducks. Southbound cars have to go around, and this abandoned vehicle is right in the middle of that space. It’s incredibly dangerous.”
Authorities have reportedly been contacted, but so far, no action has been taken to remove the car. In the meantime, drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution in the area and avoid making sudden stops or turns if traffic is heavy.
If you are the owner of this vehicle, please come and move it as soon as possible for everyone’s safety. A moment of carelessness could easily become a
tragedy.
