BREAKING: Wayne Rooney sacked as Birmingham City manager after just 15 games in charge – Here’s why

Wayne Rooney has been officially sacked as manager of Birmingham City after a disappointing run of just 15 games at the helm. The club confirmed the decision in a statement released earlier today, citing poor results and a lack of progress as the primary reasons behind the dismissal.

Rooney, who took over in October with high expectations, managed only two wins in those 15 matches, with the team slipping dangerously close to the relegation zone in the Championship. Birmingham had hoped his arrival would spark a new era, especially under the club’s new American ownership, but performances on the pitch failed to reflect that ambition.

Club officials reportedly lost confidence in Rooney’s tactics, team selections, and inability to motivate the squad. A source close to the club stated: “There was no clear improvement under Wayne. Results were poor, and the team looked directionless.”

Fans had also grown frustrated, voicing concerns about his managerial approach and lack of experience. Rooney, who previously managed Derby County, now faces questions over his coaching future. Birmingham City are expected to appoint an interim manager while they search for a long-term replacement to stabilize the season.
