BREAKING News :Michigan’s Enow Etta finds success at D-tackle after resisting move from EDGE in 2025…
In a surprising twist to Michigan’s 2025 defensive resurgence, sophomore Enow Etta has emerged as a breakout star after transitioning from EDGE to defensive tackle—a move he initially resisted.
Arriving at Ann Arbor with high expectations as a dominant pass rusher, Etta made headlines during his freshman year for his quick first step and edge-setting ability. However, with injuries and roster reshuffling affecting the interior defensive line, the Wolverines’ coaching staff proposed a switch to tackle in spring camp. Initially hesitant, Etta feared losing his identity as a speed rusher. But after committing to the role, the results have been staggering.
Through nine games, Etta has posted 6.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss, anchoring the middle of one of the Big Ten’s top defenses. His blend of power and agility has made him a mismatch for interior linemen, and NFL scouts are taking notice.
“I wasn’t sure at first,” Etta admitted after Michigan’s win over Penn State. “But now I see—it’s where I can dominate.”
Etta’s evolution at defensive tackle could be a key to Michigan’s playoff hopes, as the Wolverines eye another Big Ten title with their new star in the trenches.
