President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford addressed the media today following the announcement that Head Coach Rick Tocchet will not return to the Vancouver Canucks. Rutherford confirmed that the decision was made after extensive internal discussions and a thorough evaluation of the team’s performance and direction.
“Rick brought passion, structure, and a strong work ethic to our team,” Rutherford stated. “However, after careful consideration, we believe a change is necessary to continue progressing toward our long-term goals.”
