In a groundbreaking move, the Ottawa Senators have officially announced a $1.3 billion renovation to the iconic Canadian Tire Centre, aiming to transform the arena into a world-class facility that will serve both NHL and college ice hockey communities. The ambitious project represents one of the largest investments in Canadian sports infrastructure in recent memory.
Set to begin construction in early 2026, the renovation will modernize nearly every aspect of the stadium. Plans include state-of-the-art locker rooms, expanded seating, immersive fan experiences with smart technology integration, sustainable energy systems, and a brand-new College Hockey Excellence Wing—dedicated to hosting major collegiate tournaments and development programs in partnership with local universities.
“This is more than a facelift,” said Senators President of Business Operations Anthony LeBlanc. “It’s a vision for the future—one where Ottawa becomes a central hub for the growth of hockey at every level.”
The project also includes new community spaces, training facilities for youth programs, and housing for student-athletes. With this bold initiative, the Senators are not only elevating their home arena but also laying the foundation to redefine Canada’s role in advancing college-level ice hockey.
