Ottawa, ON — In a stunning moment that left fans and teammates in awe, Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark made a major announcement following Saturday’s morning skate. The 2023 Vezina Trophy winner revealed he will be donating a significant portion of his salary—estimated at over $4 million—to launch a mental health and wellness center for young athletes in the Ottawa region.
The facility, called The Guardian Centre, will provide counseling, emotional support, and performance-based mental health programs tailored specifically for youth involved in competitive sports. Ullmark, who has openly discussed the importance of mental resilience in professional hockey, said the project is deeply personal.
“This game takes a toll not just on the body, but on the mind,” Ullmark stated. “I want young athletes to know it’s okay to ask for help—and that help will be there.”
Senators Head Coach Travis Green was visibly moved by the announcement. “Linus has just raised the bar for what it means to lead,” he said.
Construction is set to begin in early 2026. Ullmark’s bold commitment is being praised across the NHL as a game-changing investment in both sport and community wellbeing.
