Tottenham Hotspur are now mathematically safe from relegation in the Premier League. It’s a sentence that would have sounded like satire not long ago—but here we are. For a club of Spurs’ stature, with a squad packed with international talent and aspirations of Champions League football, this season has taken a turn few could have predicted. To be even entertaining the idea of relegation this deep into April is surreal.
This isn’t to say Spurs were ever truly in danger—but the fact it’s even being discussed speaks volumes about how turbulent their campaign has been. Managerial instability, inconsistent form, and injuries have plagued their season, leaving fans frustrated and disillusioned.
It’s a far cry from the days when the conversation was about closing the gap on the top four—or even dreaming of a title run.
For a club with a new stadium, top-tier facilities, and global ambitions, this season has been humbling. Spurs are safe—but that’s not a sentence that should carry any sense of relief in April. It should spark introspection, accountability, and most importantly, change.
Because if “mathematically safe” is the highlight in spring, then something has gone badly wrong.
